England’s women may have had their World Cup hopes dashed, but the signs are more positive for mobile video platforms. According to statistics from consumer reviews company Reevoo, 16% of football fans have been watching the action on their tablets – more than laptops, desktop PCs or mobile phones.
Reevoo’s VP of Innovation, Edwin Bos said the results were unsurprising and will only rise in the future.
“On demand services like BBC’s iPlayer, combined with the unsocial times of the fixtures have led to a spike in people watching the games on their tablets. Who knows – maybe we’ll all be watching the next
World Cup exclusively on our devices.”
Surprisingly, 2% of respondents claim to be watching the football on wearable tech – whether Team GB’s valiant run would have looked quite as spectacular on a watch face is yet to be confirmed.
